My new obsession of brains

One of the kids I work with is a fantastic artist. I mean, he is AMAZING. He draws stuff that I learned how to do in college.

I love watching him draw. How I draw is I pick something, like a head, and make a logical progression from the head to the body to the arms and legs, etc. This is NOT how this boy draws. He draws a little piece over here, then something on the other side of the page, and piece of something else on the bottom of the page. And when he is almost finished you can SEE what this little boy SEES. He SEES stuff different that anyone I know.

Watching him draw has made me realize how different brains are. His brain most definitely works differently than my brain. But understanding this has also opened my eyes to the way other people's brains work.

It is so much easier to think "My brain is just different." You don't always have to understand someone else's rational. I used to get frustrated if I couldn't understand where someone else was coming from, but knowing everyone's brain is different, I don't feel like that so often.

The best part is knowing that different brains are find and good. I'm so glad Erick's brain is different than mine! I'm so glad Jenny's brain is different than mine. It makes the world and interesting place. It's so sad that countries have wars because they way of thinking is different from someone elses and it isn't tolerated.
